Liska has always been a special place in the Jewish world, as it was here that the Liska Rebbe built the famous synagogue, which was among the largest in Europe at the time. The memory of the town and its tzadik remains alive and vibrant in Jewish communities, as countless individuals come to request blessings following the Kivrei Tzadikim customs.
Rebbe Hershele Lisker (רבי הערשעלע ליסקער), also known as Zvi Hirsh Friedmann (צבי הירש פרידמאן), or the renowned author of the Ach Pri Tevu'ah (אך פרי תבואה), was among the great hasidic leaders, and his teachings continue to influence his followers to this day. The Rebbe was a disciple of the famous Teitelbaum Moshe zt"l (משה טייטלבוים זצ״ל), also known as the Yismach Moshe (ישמח משה), from whom he gained deep Torah knowledge and chassidic wisdom. In Hasidic communities, particularly among Satmar followers, the close disciple relationship remains significant, honoring the legacies of both Teitelbaum and Rebbe Hershele Lisker.

Recognized as one of the key Kivrei Tzadikim locations, the Liska cemetery is a place where prayers are infused with unique strength through the tzadik's merit. On the anniversary of the Rebbe's passing, or yahrzeit (יארצייט), a multitude of people journeys here to pray and seek blessings for their families and the wider community.
